A New Era Begins
From The Chair
We can announce today that the ALMBC has been awarded organisational funding from Music Australia - a significant outcome for such a young organisation and a showcase of the work that all of the previous Board Members, Staff and Volunteers have contributed.
Thanks for your support as we continue to work for you, our members.
Also very happy to announce that Round 2 for the ALMBC International Conference Support program opens today as well as new Professional Partners.
Check out all the news below and lets get ready for a big big 2025!
Howard Adams
Chair
ALMBC Receives organisational funding from Music Australia.
The ALMBC is proud to announce it is the recipient of organisational funding from Music Australia.
The funding will enable the ALMBC to continue its role in supporting grass roots live music industry businesses – especially those from regional and remote Australia.
The two year organisational funding will support monthly in-person professional development and thought-leadership sessions in partnership with State Music Industry bodies, other national music industry organisations and our growing list of professional partners.
ALMBC Chair Howard Adams says, “There has been many years of very hard work by key people – some still involved in the ALMBC and some who have retired their services. On behalf of the Board I want to say a huge thankyou to all those who have been involved in the ALMBC since its inception as volunteer Board members, staff and volunteers.
I want to also thank Music Australia for this funding and for the ongoing excellent work they provide.”

Federal Budget Submission - we need your thoughts
The ALMBC is competing a pre-budget submission to the Federal Treasury in the lead up to the next budget, focussing on building outcomes for our members - particularly in regional and remote parts of this continent.
Things like more certainty for Music Australia funding, building touring circuits, supporting tax credits for live music venues, mentoring for emerging regional live music businesses and more.
We are seeking your feedback and ideas. More info here.
Hearing Protection for Music Workers
The ALMBC is interested in supporting ear/hearing protection for music workers.
ALMBC Board member, previous Chair and Owner of Select Music agency, Stephen Wade, says, “There are thousands upon thousands of music industry people who all have tinnitus from years of being exposed to volumes that are damaging from day one. In the aviation industry or any heavy mechanical industry they have signage everywhere and people must wear ear protection. Its common sense & time we start to warn our workers the same way – its not high risk for people attending shows as most don’t go to enough shows to do any long term damage. It’s the artists on stage, the crew, the managers, agents, crew, label reps, publicists, promoters, staff working the bars at live music venues.”
To get the ball rolling, the ALMBC wants to hear from any of you that have developed Tinnitus or hearing damage from working in the industry. We want to hear your stories and your thoughts about what should be done.
Through the ALMBC and ROSTR partnership, ALMBC financial members have the opportunity to access 50% off an individual annual ROSTR Pro membership. In addition, members will have access to educational opportunities surrounding use of ROSTR and platform features. ROSTR maps the largest database of artist teams including hundreds of thousands of relationships between artists, managers, agents, labels & publishers.
With ROSTR Pro, members will have access to contact information for thousands of booking agents & music managers, ability to search artists through a variety of filters, access to artist audience demographic breakdowns, music release activity, signing tracker, tour maps, tour & festival directories, data-driven insights and much more.

Unfair Trading Practices
Recently the Federal Government consulted on a proposal to amend the Australian Consumer Law to introduce general and specific prohibitions on unfair trading practices.
As part of this consultation, Treasury sought feedback from the ALMBC specifically on drip pricing and dynamic pricing issues relevant to ticketing. The Treasury also sought feedback on unfair practices that impacted other businesses negatively - our detailed response delved into the impact on sole traders, micro-business and small business by unfair practices sometimes employed by the industry's major players.
